The principle

A PDO thread is inserted deep under the skin, and the body's natural healing powers then slowly break it down. This degradation process leads to the actual tightening, regeneration and revitalization effect: The tissue is very well supplied with blood, and growth cells (fibroblasts) migrate in. These produce and build up new collagen. This effect can be seen under the microscope, and collagen formation can be scientifically measured.

The increase in collagen leads to visible and tangible changes in the skin – both on the face and body. Wrinkles disappear, stretch marks are reduced and sagging skin areas (e.g., cheeks, corners of the mouth, abdominal skin, cellulite) are tightened. However, this visible effect does not occur immediately, but takes some time.

The material

The thread material PDO (polidioxanone) is a substance that has been used as a suture material in surgery for decades. Due to its tensile strength and excellent biocompatible properties, it is mainly used in cardiac surgery and orthopedic surgery. Resourceful doctors in Korea came up with the idea of using this material to stimulate collagen growth – a method that has been tried and tested for years.

The short PDO thread used in the 3D mesothread lift has a length of 3 or 6 cm. The material is 100% biocompatible and dissolves completely on its own. No barbs are used; unlike other thread lifts, the 3D mesothread lift is about collagen formation and not about pulling tissue into a new position.

The 3D mesothread lift is called 3D because its effect is three-dimensional, but also because it has to be placed under the skin like a 3D grid during the treatment.

The treatment

The treatment is short and almost painless; an anesthetic cream is usually sufficient to make the treatment pleasant (a "short anesthetic" can also be used if desired). Immediately after the treatment, you are usually fully socially acceptable and can also drive.

Usually, 10 threads per side are used per session, for optimal results the same body area must be treated 2-3 times at intervals of 2 weeks. Results can be seen and felt immediately after treatment, even if it sometimes takes several sessions to achieve the optimum result. Once the result has been achieved, it lasts for several months – if not years – until gravity and the natural ageing process may make it necessary to repeat the treatment.

The result always looks natural, there are never any "overcorrections".

Side effects

The mesothread lift is performed directly under the skin, so there is no risk of injury to blood vessels, nerves or muscles. Slight swelling of the treated area and occasional slight bruising are possible, but these can be easily removed.

There are no known side effects worth mentioning in the treatment of cellulite and sagging skin, and sport is permitted again after 1-2 days (we recommend waiting a little longer for treatments on the face, as immediate sport can lead to swelling). Exposure to the sun does not have to be avoided either.
