Carboxytherapy

Carboxytherapy, i.e., the application of medical carbon dioxide (CO₂) to subcutaneous fatty tissue, has been used in Italy and Latin America since the 1990s to treat cellulite and localized fat deposits.

The medical CO₂ is injected into the cellulite or fat deposits using very thin needles. The gas is distributed in the subcutaneous fatty tissue, increasing microcirculation (feeling of warmth) and promoting venous as well as lymphatic drainage of the tissue. Another effect concerns the membrane (outer skin) of the fat cells themselves; the gas has a fat-dissolving mechanism and increases the oxidation process of the fatty acids through the oxygen produced. The release of body enzymes also promotes the breakdown of triglycerides – i.e., free fats – and increases their degradation. All areas of the body such as the arms, stomach, buttocks, thighs and stretch marks can be treated with carboxytherapy.

As this is the body's own metabolic stimulation, several sessions are required. As a rule, we carry out 2 treatments per week. At least 10 treatments are required to achieve a permanent tightening or melting of unwanted fat deposits. CO₂ is absolutely harmless; it is broken down in the body, which is why even large areas can be treated. Apart from a possible minimal bruise at the respective injection sites, there are no undesirable side effects to worry about and the treatment is only slightly painful or not painful at all. We recommend combining carboxytherapy with LPG Endermologie^® for even better results.

Cost: depends on the size of the treated areas. For a treatment of the entire thighs including buttocks with subsequent endermologie^® treatment (total duration approx. 1 hour), you should expect to pay approx. CHF 200.00 per session. Without endermologie^®, the treatment costs approx. CHF 120.00-150.00 per session.

Which areas can be treated?

In principle, any area of the body can be treated, such as the arms, abdomen, buttocks and thighs. Excellent results are achieved in the treatment of stretch marks and dark circles under the eyes, but hair loss can also be successfully treated. The circulation-enhancing effect and stimulation of lymphatic drainage leads to relief from symptoms of lipedema (tired, swollen legs).

Treatment procedure

As this is the body's own metabolic stimulation, several sessions are required. As a rule, 2 treatments per week are recommended. At least 10 treatments are required to achieve a permanent tightening effect – or to melt away unwanted fat deposits. The distribution of the gas when treating larger areas (legs and bottom) is improved by a subsequent endermologie^® treatment, which increases the tightening effect.

Possible side effects

CO₂ is absolutely harmless, it is broken down into active oxygen in the body, which is why even large areas can be treated. Apart from possible minimal bruising at the injection sites, there are no undesirable side effects.

The treatment is only slightly painful or not painful at all.

Durability of the results

The results last for approximately two years. To improve durability, a change in diet and a sports program may be recommended.
