The distribution of fat in the human body is mainly determined by heredity and only partly by diet. The genetic constitution determines the number and individual distribution of fat cells in the body. These fat cells form particularly during puberty and change in the following years due to hormonal influences, e.g., during pregnancy or the menopause. This can lead to specific, individual fat distributions, such as disproportionately pronounced fat pads in the buttocks and/or on the thighs and lower legs in women. Men develop abdominal fat or male breasts due to changes in their hormone levels. Although diet or exercise lead to a reduction in the fat mass in each individual fat cell, they have no influence on the distribution of the fat cells. Often, annoying pockets of fat remain that cannot be made to disappear through exercise or diet. Stubborn fat deposits are best removed by liposuction. Liposuction leads to the best results compared to non-invasive procedures such as Cryolipo or fat removal injections, where unfortunately a specific result can never be guaranteed.
