Fat removal through liposuction

Liposuction is the best way to permanently remove stubborn fat deposits that cannot be made to disappear through exercise or diet. The results of liposuction are permanent; once removed, fat does not come back. Modern methods, such as those used at the LIPOCLINIC, allow for a perfectly controlled procedure in which the fat is removed precisely and gently.

At LIPOCLINIC, we always work with the latest and most innovative procedures. This enables us to offer each patient a personalized treatment concept based on the latest technologies and equipment.

Different liposuction procedures

The variety of liposuction techniques allows us to offer each patient the best procedure for them. Innovative methods and techniques that are constantly being modified at the LIPOCLINIC, such as the Smooth Lipo® developed and patented by Dr. Linde, water-jet liposuction (body-jet®), PAL® (MicroAir), VASERlipo®, Smartlipo®, laser lipolysis, RENUVION® or a combination of these procedures, produce excellent and immediately visible results.

Depending on your expectations, the condition of the tissue, age and budget, one or the other procedure is recommended. Dr. Linde always tries to offer the method(s) that can achieve the best results.

Liposuction procedure

At LIPOCLINIC, we treat on an outpatient basis, under local anesthesia and with virtually no side effects – you can go home immediately after treatment and often return to work the very next day.

Many more people have had liposuction than you can imagine (probably some of your friends too, without you even knowing it). Understandably, many are reluctant to talk about it, as they may be met with incomprehension rather than recognition if they "come out". The average age of patients seeking liposuction is also increasing. More and more patients are now coming to us who are 60, 70 and even over 80 years old. Provided the patient is healthy, liposuction can be performed at any age.

Liposuction is now routine. Complications or side effects are rare thanks to our innovative, patented treatment techniques.

Your well-being is our focus. We are happy to take all the time you need to explain to you in detail what you want and should know.

Liposuction result

Immediately after the treatment, a massive reduction in the volume of the treated skin areas can be seen.

This effect may be "blurred" by the post-operative swelling, so that it is no longer noticeable a few days later. However, the patient should not be disappointed with the result, this process is completely normal. After 1 to 2 weeks, in most cases 80-90% of the final result can already be seen, which will continue to optimize over the next few months. A final assessment of the result can only be made after 6 months. Some areas, such as a treated double chin, only reach their optimum result after a year. This is how long the so-called retraction processes, i.e. the contraction of the connective tissue fibers between the skin and muscles, take. This leads to the desired tightening of the skin.

If small asymmetries or residual fat deposits are found during the follow-up check, these are addressed as part of a free second treatment. Our aim is to achieve an optimal end result with maximum patient satisfaction.

You can find photos of possible "before/after" results in our gallery.

We would like to invite you to a free and non-binding initial consultation with our specialists.

Examination & consultation

The examination and initial consultation are at the heart of every liposuction. During the consultation, for which we take a lot of time, you will find out what results you can actually expect. You will also be informed in detail about the operation and aftercare. Our advice: Write down all your questions so that you don't forget anything during the consultation! Experience shows: The more precisely a patient is informed about the treatment and prepared for the operation, the better he or she will feel during and after the procedure.

The consultation focuses on the areas that are to be treated. The skin fold test can be used to assess what makes sense in terms of suction and what does not. Other factors such as skin elasticity and the condition of the skin, as well as the structure of the connective tissue and muscles, are also included in the assessment. The younger a patient and the more elastic their skin is, the better the result will be. The firmer the tissue, the less risk there is of cellulite forming.

During the consultation, we try to explain to the patient what they can expect as a result after liposuction. LIPOCLINIC strives to provide as much information and clarification as possible in order to minimize disappointment after the treatment. To complete the patient history, anamnestic information such as illnesses, body weight, diets, operations, medications taken, allergies, family illnesses, etc. are recorded. At the end of the consultation and examination, a precise treatment plan is drawn up, which also includes the exact costs of the surgical procedure. The consultation is always supplemented by information on nutrition and weight reduction.

ANONYMOUS CONSULTATION BASED ON IMAGES

On request, it is possible to receive a free preliminary consultation if you would like to know, without obligation, what could be possible with liposuction. You can send us photos of your problem areas with detailed information about yourself (age, births, previous operations, etc.). We guarantee you an answer within 48 hours. However, this option does not replace a personal consultation. Email us your details via info@drlinde.com or by letter.

In addition, you can also have a free preliminary consultation with a lipo assistant in Zurich (Dr. Linde is not present at this consultation). Here you can find out what changes are possible and you will be informed about the procedure. Please make an appointment for such a consultation. This consultation does not replace the consultation with Dr. Linde.

Preparation

No special preparations are necessary before the operation. Only in special cases do we recommend LPG Endermologie® to prepare the fatty tissue for liposuction. However, it is essential to take an antibiotic the day before. In order to achieve an optimal effect of the local anesthetic on the day of the operation and to prevent unnecessary bleeding, the patient must refrain from taking medication containing vitamin E and salicylic acid (e.g., aspirin). We also recommend that you come to us on the day of the operation dressed casually and slightly full. Please bring a dark, old T-shirt, warm socks, spare underwear and loose clothing. The clothing should be chosen so that it will still fit after the operation despite the bandage material (it is best to bring loose-fitting tracksuit bottoms).

Operation

As soon as the patient arrives at the LIPOCLINIC, they put on their socks and T-shirt and receive disposable underpants from us. The areas to be treated are then discussed and marked with circles that look like contour lines on a mountain map. Before the procedure, the findings are documented with photographic images. Blood pressure and oxygen levels in the blood are then measured and recorded. Local anesthesia (tumescent anesthesia) is then administered as an ultra-wet technique, which makes the areas to be treated insensitive and "plumps up" the tissue in such a way that the effects of gravity are eliminated.

Each liposuction begins with mini incisions of only 2-3 mm, through which the mini cannulas are then inserted. The patient feels nothing of this. We generally make as few incisions as possible.

The procedure itself is performed with the patient lying down or standing, depending on the area and the condition of the skin, so that an ideal result can be achieved. Most patients find it much more comfortable to lie down during liposuction rather than having to stand.

The procedure is always carried out under sedation, which calms the patient down and makes them insensitive to pain. The patient is put into a state of total relaxation but is still responsive and can be woken up at any time. This state of sedation is always adapted to the patient's condition, i.e., one patient needs a little more medication, the other less. We also try to make the patient's stay with us as pleasant as possible by providing drinks, music and encouraging conversation. It is important to us that no patient finds the procedure unpleasant. We guarantee absolute freedom from pain – jarring movements are the only sensation felt in individual cases.

Depending on the amount of fat deposits to be treated, a complete liposuction procedure takes around three hours (arrival, information about the rest of the procedure, infiltration, exposure time, suction, bandaging, information about the rest of the procedure, etc.). Finally, the patient is wrapped in absorbent materials that are held in place by compression garments.

Pain/ANESTHESIA

At the beginning of each procedure, a so-called Venflon is inserted into a vein in the arm; this allows medication to be administered during the procedure without further injections. At the LIPOCLINIC, we like to work generously with substances that calm and take away the fear of the procedure. Depending on your wishes, you will be given more or less of these substances, including so-called twilight sleep: a state in which you sleep lightly during the procedure and are completely unaware. Nevertheless, the sleep is only so light that you can be woken up at any time. This twilight sleep cannot be compared with anesthesia and its usual side effects.

As we take plenty of time to administer the local anesthetic – the so-called ultra-wet technique (tumescent anesthesia) – the procedure is otherwise virtually pain-free. The patient does feel that something is being done, but above all experiences an unfamiliar sensation that cannot be categorized.

Ultra wet technique

Liposuction at the LIPOCLINIC is performed exclusively under local anesthesia using the ultra-wet technique known as tumescent anesthesia. Tumescence refers to the filling of the fat deposits to be treated with large quantities of fluid. This consists primarily of a saline solution similar to body fluid, the anesthetic lidocaine, prilocaine, a small amount of adrenaline and homeopathic substances. This self-developed formula makes it possible to anesthetize (make insensitive to pain) large fat pads and skin areas without any significant side effects. The fat cells swell and burst, making them much easier to suction out afterwards. It is important to allow sufficient time for tumescent anesthesia, allowing the solution to work for 30-60 minutes provides optimal results.

By injecting large amounts of tumescent solution into the subcutaneous fatty tissue, the connective tissue-like mesh structure under the skin – which must be preserved for an optimal result – is tightened and therefore hardly damaged during the subsequent liposuction. Lidocaine and prilocaine make the tissue insensitive to pain. Adrenaline constricts the blood vessels in the treated area, allowing liposuction to be performed without bleeding. The tumescent solution is injected under the skin using very fine needles, a procedure we have perfected over many years. By using the thinnest needles (0.3 mm), heating the solution to body temperature and slow, careful infiltration, the patient experiences this procedure as a "funny" feeling, but not as pain. During the anesthetic, which usually lasts 30-60 minutes, the patient can read a newspaper, listen to music and enjoy a drink to make this time as pleasant and entertaining as possible. It should be emphasized once again at this point that neither a general anesthetic nor a partial anesthetic is used.

After the operation

What must be observed after liposuction?

The small surgical incisions remain open and are neither glued nor sutured. While the patient is wrapped in bandages, he or she can look at the suctioned areas and see that the fat deposits have lost volume. The result is usually visible immediately after the treatment. The patient is pain-free and, depending on the length of the procedure, may feel pleasantly exhausted. It is important to us that you are picked up and do not drive a vehicle home yourself. The medication used has a negative effect on your ability to drive.

Fluid will leak out of the small incisions over the next 24-36 hours. This prevents bacterial infection of the suctioned skin areas. In some cases, some fluid may still be visible two to three days after the procedure. This is by no means a negative factor, as every drop that leaves the body after the procedure leads to a faster reduction in swelling of the treated tissue.

Even if the patient leaves our clinic immediately after the procedure, they can contact us day and night on our secret number. We will visit them at home if necessary. Depending on the patient's constitution, it is possible that the circulation may be slightly out of balance on the day of the operation. We recommend drinking as much as possible and exercising. Approximately 8 hours after the procedure, the treated areas of the body will begin to "wake up" and you will feel sore muscles. If the symptoms increase, we recommend taking the painkillers provided.

The day after liposuction, the abdominal belt or panty (compression pants) and bandages can be temporarily removed and you can take a shower. Afterwards, the areas where fluid is still leaking should be bandaged again. Continue to exercise and drink plenty of fluids.

The compression garment or abdominal belt is worn day and night for one week. The aim is to reduce the swelling in the treated areas as quickly as possible. It is not necessary to wear the compression aid for a longer period of time. Long-term results are not influenced by the length of time a compression device is worn, but by the technique used during the procedure. Thanks to the ultra-wet tumescent anesthesia technique, which LIPOCLINIC is constantly developing, and the method of liposuction, only fat is removed from the subcutaneous tissue, while the entire connective tissue framework remains completely intact. This contracts continuously in the weeks following the operation and tightens the skin for a perfect result, regardless of whether or not the skin is compressed by any materials during this time.

The treated areas of the body may turn blue to greenish in color over the next 2-3 days or weeks due to small bruises. Possible swelling is also completely normal as part of the healing process. After 3-4 days, you can begin light exercise and carefully massage the treated areas. For larger swellings and hardening, we recommend lymphatic drainage, which is carried out by professionally trained therapists at the LIPOCLINIC.

After the procedure, body weight may increase as a result of increased water retention due to inflammation. This phenomenon is by no means unusual and is only temporary. The suctioned areas are usually sensitive to pressure or touch and feel as if they have "fallen asleep". These sensory disturbances disappear within a few weeks, rarely even months. Possible local swelling and hardening can also be noticeable for months.

If you have any questions or uncertainties, please do not hesitate to contact us. We recommend a first follow-up check after 4 weeks and a final check after 6 months.

Liposuction aftercare

Matrix regeneration therapy has been specially modified to meet the needs of the tissue after surgery and is used as a so-called "smooth massage" shortly after liposuction. This special technique leads to efficient lymphatic decongestion and stimulation of blood circulation deep into the tissue, resulting in rapid reduction of swelling in the treated areas. Depending on the severity of the post-operative swelling, endermologie® is recommended as early as two weeks after the operation. This treatment should be used in particular for large, hardened areas such as the abdomen in order to achieve faster healing. Endermologie® is also perceived as pleasant if the operated areas themselves are still sensitive to pressure or touch.

However, the skin treatment is most important from the 4th week after liposuction, which is initially carried out with bi-weekly sessions, then after 4-6 weeks with weekly sessions and finally with monthly sessions. In addition to the body shaping effect, this achieves an optimal skin structure without dents and cellulite. If the treatment is only carried out months after liposuction, scarring processes may have already occurred under the skin, which can then no longer be treated and can reduce the success.
