The body's own fatty tissue is found throughout the human body and can be used in aesthetic surgery as a filling material (treatment of wrinkles, correction of asymmetries, liposculpture) or to improve the appearance of the skin (skin texture itself or scars). Autologous fat is injected into another part of the body directly after it has been harvested; this process is also known as autologous fat transplantation, autologous fat transfer or lipofilling . In principle, it does not matter from which area of the body the fat is harvested – the most popular areas are the inside of the knees, the stomach and the waist (love handles).
The harvested autologous fat not only contains fat cells, but also a large number of multipotent stem cells. These are body cells that have not yet specialized in a tissue structure (e.g. nerve cells, bone cells, etc.), but can take on any cell function. If the removed fat (from the abdomen, knee, etc.) is injected into the subcutaneous fatty tissue, for example, the stem cells transform into exactly the same type of fat cells that are already present locally. For this reason, autologous fat is ideal for augmenting the breasts and buttocks and for filling out a sunken face.
It is important that the fat is harvested gently: the BEAULI™ method is a technique that handles the highly sensitive fatty tissue extremely gently and processes it in such a way that as many stem cells as possible remain intact.
