Tissue activators are substances that stimulate the tissue to form new, sustainable collagen. These methods have been used to treat facial wrinkles for almost 20 years, but their use for cellulite is new. Activators such as Sculptra (polylactate) and Radiesse (calcium hydroxyapatite) are injected under the skin using a syringe.
Tissue activators are either injected under the skin over a large area or specifically into "dents"; they develop their final result within 3 months. The result can then be assessed and, if necessary, the next treatment can be discussed. The injections are carried out in just a few minutes (pain-free in a short course if desired) and you can go back to work, exercise, etc. immediately afterwards. There are no special restrictions.
The effect of Radiesse can be maximized by combining it with the application of heat using highly focused ultrasound (Ulthera/HIFU).
